Meet Anna Sapegina: Industry trendsetter, studio ally, & Tetris fan

If you’ve ever played Tetris, you know the trick: always leave a gate for the long piece. Keep it open. Don’t panic. Plan ahead and mind the unpredictability of the next figure. That’s how Anna Sapegina works - with clarity, instinct, and a quiet refusal to let chaos win. With this mindset, we’re more than excited to have Anna join as Director of Customer Success - helping game studios achieve their goals with Layer.
In the past decade, she’s worked at My.Games, Azerion, and Pley. Titles matter, but her real strength is in seeing the shape of things early. She spots trends before they land, understands people before they speak, and helps teams grow into something stronger, sharper, more focused.
Her career began in marketing, where she helped launch the first-ever brand integrations inside social games - something no one else had done at the time. Lipton, Microsoft, and others took a chance on the vision. The campaigns didn’t just run - they resonated. Awards followed, but what stayed with Anna was something deeper.
“That project was a turning point. We weren’t following a trend - we were creating one. And that moment taught me how powerful it is to take a risk on the right idea.” - Anna Sapegina, Director of Customer Success, Layer
What matters most to her isn’t the size of a studio or the name on the contract. It’s the idea. The potential. She’s known for giving the same level of care and attention to small indie teams as she does to established publishers.

“Partnerships should never be transactional. If you’re only around when it’s time to renew a contract or push a product, you’ve already lost. I believe in showing up early, staying present, and actually caring about what the other side needs. Big studio or two friends building something wild in a garage - I treat them the same.” - Anna Sapegina, Director of Customer Success, Layer
That’s why many have called her “the best friend of the company’s partners.” She’s known for her practical approach, asking the right questions early, spotting blockers before they grow, and always thinking a few steps ahead. When a trend starts to rise, she doesn’t just observe - she maps out how it can help, who it can empower, and how it could evolve into something useful.
One of the biggest shifts right now is the role of AI in game development. It’s already reshaping creative workflows across the industry - from indie teams to AAA studios. And while some art professionals feel uneasy about what that could mean, Anna sees a different side.
“Genius can’t be replaced - and it shouldn’t be. But AI can take away the friction, giving teams more time to focus on the spark only humans can bring.”

Outside of work, Anna keeps her brain moving. She competes in Tetris championships, runs a 3D printing lab, making videos for her TikTok-famous cat, and casually studies languages - she speaks four so far.
She’s naturally curious, always building something, always learning. And that’s really the point.
For Anna, keeping the gate open isn’t just a Tetris move - it’s how she approaches everything. Staying ready for what’s next. Making space for ideas. And leaving room for the unexpected piece that changes the game.
