Layer partners with BRIA to enable copyright compliant gen-AI for game studios
We believe in the power of compliant, responsible and friendly generative-AI, where game-changing technology is guided by human principles. This is why Layer is the first gaming focused gen-AI tool to enable BRIA’s foundational models. Game studios will be able to create copyright complaint content at scale, with proper attribution to artists.
Both teams share the belief that responsible innovation is the key to unlocking the potential of generative AI. This collaboration gives game studios the option to be truly responsible with their art production, while tapping into the near-unlimited potential of generative-AI.
BRIA’s models are trained with fully licensed data from major providers, designed to avoid public figures, trademarks, or privacy issues. This addresses the growing Intellectual Property concerns of game studios who want full control over asset creation while negating potential lawsuits.
“This collaboration represents a significant leap forward in how game studios can harness the power of AI, not only to enhance creativity and efficiency but also to ensure the responsible and effective use of AI technology,” said Vered Horesh Chief of Strategic AI Partnerships at BRIA and added “We are committed to developing AI solutions that respect intellectual property and foster a culture of innovation that is both ethical and artist-friendly, secured in the knowledge that they are compliant and respectful of copyright laws.”
How does BRIA fit into Layer’s architecture?
We know that flexibility is key for game development. This is why we’re providing game developers with the most flexible gen-AI platform on the market, which supports multiple AI models. BRIA is the latest addition to the selection of models available on Layer and uniquely positioned as the first copyright safe option.
“Layer was built from day one to be a model agnostic platform, integrating with all foundation model providers to give our users the right tool for the right use case. Our fast integration with BRIA offers our customers a copyright-safe option that validates this approach.” — Volkan Gurel, Layer AI CEO
How do you access the BRIA model inside Layer?
This new model will be available initially for Studio and Enterprise customers in the Layer dashboard, and can be used without any additional fees with Enterprise. Any assets generated with the new BRIA model are legally compliant and can be used in commercially available games, apps, and projects — perfect for large studios.
As an example, let’s take a close look at the artist’s workflow on Layer. In this case we’re using our furniture game assets.
- Navigate into the styles tab on Layer.
- Click on “Create a new style” and select BRIA 2.1
- Select the relevant use cases and upload their subset of the asset library
- Review auto-generated descriptions and hit generate. Your style will be ready to forge approximately 1h later.
- Select the style from the drop down, type your prompt and hit forge.
- Compliant assets are now ready to generate with Layer’s best in-class artists canvas.
We’ve designed Layer to be model agnostic, and our collaboration with BRIA is a prime example of how third-party models can be integrated and simply accessed by game creators.
