#TeamLayer Updates: More engineers, more possibilities

2025 is a big year for us. We’re working more game studios every month, and the team is full throttle building features that help game creators scale their work.

After plying our existing engineers with more coffee and several disastrous cloning attempts, we realized there’s only so many tickets one person can close. We needed more developers - fast.

After a whirlwind of LinkedIn stalking and interviews, we’re thrilled to welcome 6 new additions to our dev team. In true Layer spirit, these awesome individuals represent different countries, skills, and backgrounds, but share in common a passion for building awesome things + video game development

Who's joining

Fabien Rogeret - Quebec 🇨🇦

Originally from France, Fabien has called Canada home for the past 15 years and now lives in a remote corner of Quebec - sharing space with the local wildlife. A former summer postman turned longtime webmaster, he’s been delivering pixels since the early 2000s. Outside of work, you’ll find him training in Muay Thai and Jiu-Jitsu, working on his camper or gaming hard. He’s currently hooked on Diablo IV, still raves about Death Stranding, and is counting down the days until GTA 6.

Anthony Lord - Montreal 🇨🇦

Anthony joins us from Montreal with a background at both Ubisoft and Unity, where he built UGC tools that put creative power in the hands of players. He’s all about crafting systems that make life better for game devs and more fun for gamers. When he’s not building tools, you’ll probably find him deep in a Dota 2 match or grinding through an action RPG like Path of Exile or Dark Souls.

Alex Ivanov - Helsinki 🇫🇮

Originally from Belarus, Alex has spent the last few years living in Helsinki, where he brings over a decade of software development experience to the team. He’s worked on all kinds of cool projects at places like Unity and Yandex. Outside of code, Alex lives for adrenaline - he’s into climbing, mountaineering, skateboarding, skiing, surfing… you name it. He even competed as a pro climber for five years, hitting up multiple world cups. When it comes to games, he’s all about the challenge: think Bloodborne, Dark Souls, Hades, and Returnal.

Monica Lozano - Montreal 🇨🇦

Originally from Colombia, Monica landed in Montreal in 2019 and kicked off her gaming career at Unity. After a few years in data and machine learning at places like MongoDB and Alan, she’s making her way back to the games world with Layer. She’s a proud mom to a toddler who brings equal parts joy and chaos, and a globe-hopper who’s lived in four countries - picking up English, French, and Italian along the way. Monica’s a board game night regular and always up for a competitive round of FIFA. Also: total food and wine snob, in the best way.

Gabriel Lemire - Montreal 🇨🇦

Born and raised in Montreal, Gabriel kicked off his dev career in 2014 and has since worked across e-commerce, finance, and video games - always with a focus on full-stack web development. When he’s not coding, you’ll probably catch him out on a hike, hitting a cross-fit session, or squeezing in a jog. He’s also a gamer at heart, with Overwatch 2 and Baldur’s Gate 3 topping his list.

Alex Murphy - Montreal 🇨🇦

Born and raised in Montreal, Alex has been in software for 20 years - long enough to remember computers before the internet was even a thing. He started out in C/C++ building software for embedded cameras/screens, and now spends most of his time in webdev. Outside of work, Alex is big into Crossfit, hockey, soccer, and games or horror movies. His all-time favorite? Chrono Trigger - nothing beats a classic SNES JRPG. These days he’s gaming on PS5 and Switch, with Cyberpunk 2077 and Alan Wake 2 in rotation.

What this means for Layer 🚀

In true startup fashion, everyone in the above list is already going full force: working on PRs, closing tickets, crushing bugs, and working with studios.

So what does this really mean for Layer?

We have a bunch of very ambitious features we’ve wanted to tackle for a while. Not only introducing new modalities such as Audio generation or animation/rigging - but getting into large-scale asset automation and customization for studios. We’ve said a few times now how Layer exists so you can leverage the power of AI without the technical headaches.. well, now we have more folks to solve more technical headaches so you don’t have to.

Keep an eye out for more updates in the near future as we continue to scale and bring more functionality to our platform.

See you soon,

#TeamLayer (now bigger!)
