Layer Update (Mar ‘25) - Fresh Faces, Fresh Features⚒️

March brought the heat with a wave of updates, fresh features, and new #TeamLayer members. We kicked things off with a new onboarding experience for new users, launched the Hunyuan3D 2.0 model for 3D generations, and made big improvements to the Session feed and User Settings page. Our Style Studio got smarter with prefix/suffix support for easier prompt refinement and we shipped a bunch of quality-of-life fixes that make everything feel just a bit smoother.
We also dropped a new case study with Live Play Mobile, showing how they scaled their live service collectibles with Layer. Our docs also got a major refresh, and we welcomed six new engineers to the team – each bringing amazing skills and energy to the team.

Improvements and changes to the Layer platform.
New Features
- Improved onboarding for new creators. Getting started with any new tool can be tricky, which is why we added a much more detailed “Getting Started” flow for users. Featuring exciting new terms of service modals and a workspace overview video!
- New model: Hunyuan 3D 2.0. Released the Hunyuan 3D 2.0 model for 3D generations, giving you more options for creating detailed 3D models to bring into tools like Blender or directly into your game engine.
- Session feed - better, stronger, faster than ever. We launched a new and improved Session feed with enhanced performance and user experience. This means you can manage your forge sessions more easily, delete generations, and go between generations with ease.
- Even customization for custom styles. For added control over custom styles, there is now prefix and suffix support, enabling style admins to define default values to improve output quality. This lets you “bake in” descriptive prompts into your styles to keep things consistent without manual prompt guidance.
- Upscale videos with ease. Low-res? Never heard of it! Our Refine tools now have the option to upscale generated videos with just a few clicks, letting you ship high-quality videos for in-game and marketing assets.
Platform Improvements
- Updated our User Settings page with a more intuitive design and features.
- Added documentation to key areas in the Layer - Video Generation, Members page on Roles, etc.
- Added a new “My Favorites” tab in Style Studio for easy access to favorite styles, so you can manage multiple styles more easily.
- Added the ability to view full prompts (which can get very long!) in the session feed through an expandable menu.
- Improved the invitation flow for workspace members, now indicating whether they already have an account or need to create a new one.
- QoL improvements such as optimizing how assets are created in the drive, how images are displayed in Canvas, and many more.
- Crushed a ton of bugs alongside our session & UI updates, making general usability smoother and more consistent.

Looking Ahead 🔮
Lots of awesome stuff ahead! With a whole squad of new engineers, we’re boosting our feature development like never before. Specifically, next month will see the creation of our “File Picker” feature, which allows you to select multiple files to be used for things like keyframe video creation, batch pose creation for characters, lipsync on videos, and much much more.
We’re also looking to deliver our new Activity feed, which will show a centralized view of all activities/events within a workspace. This is great for larger game teams with multiple users, roles, and projects going on - giving every user a birds eye view of everything. Whether you’re an artist viewing daily creations, art director overseeing work, or an admin tracking KPIs - Activity Feed will give you the enterprise-level insights you need to optimize your team.
