Layer becomes the first SOC 2 compliant gaming gen AI provider

The world of AI is exciting, powerful, and inspiring — but comes with some major challenges when it comes to compliance. As companies move quickly to create new AI-focused solutions, they often lose sight of data and security standards. We’ve always wanted to build not only the best tools, but build them the right way. This is why we’re excited to announce that Layer is now SOC II Type 2 compliant.

With our goal of providing solutions for professional game studios, we wanted to make sure that teams can deploy Layer across their entire organization with a peace of mind. To make this a reality, we’ve implemented top-notch security measures that keep our users’ data safe and secure. This is in addition to our SOC II Type 1 accreditation which we achieved at the end of 2023.

Why this matters

SOC 2 Type 1 compliance evaluates an organization’s cybersecurity controls at a single point in time with the goal is to determine whether the company has the internal controls in place to safeguard customer data. SOC 2 Type 2 on the other hand examines how well a service organization’s system and controls perform over a period of time if the organization is effective in their operations.

In practical terms, SOC 2 Type 1 compliance gives our users the assurance that we have met the industry’s high standard for security controls and Type 2 ensures we’re operationally efficient. This compliance serves as an official validation of the design and implementation of our security processes.

Why Layer implemented this

While gen-AI is the hot technology of the day, we believe the founding principles of building an enterprise tool doesn’t change. We prioritized the security of our users’ data and feel that SOC 2 Type 1 and Type 2 audits are the bare minimum required to provide the peace of mind professional game studios deserve.
