What Layer Believes in — Using AI, Staying Human
Here at Layer, we believe in the creative and transformative benefit offered by generative AI, and offer it to our customers and to the users of our services. Nevertheless, we also understand that generative AI should be used ethically and responsibly, in a manner that is fair and respects the rights of others. These are Layer’s key principles of staying human while using AI:
Encourage Creativity, Respect Ownership
We respect the ownership and proprietary rights of others, and expect our customers and users to do the same. Through and subject to our terms of service, we seek to provide you with ownership of the creations generated through Layer. By adhering to these guidelines, we seek to promote our users’ imagination and creative passions and allow them to claim ownership in the creations generated via Layer. First and foremost, our core service is to provide our users with a safe platform to teach AI their unique style without compromising their data. Between Layer and our users, our users own the copyright to their artwork, what they create and any derivative work on the platform also belongs to them. Secondly, starter styles which are specified as such by Layer, are all owned or licensed by us. In case our users believe that content residing or accessible on or through our services infringes their copyrights, they are welcome to reach out to us and we will address it through our copyright policy.
Create, Don’t Hurt
We understand that alongside the creative potential of generative AI, it might also cause harm and that some created content might be inappropriate or hurt some people’s feelings. Layer constantly strives to improve its algorithms to continue promoting creativity, while trying to make sure no hurt comes to our users and the wider community — and we expect our customers and users to do the same, by adhering to our acceptable use policy.
Keep it Private, Keep it Safe
We respect the confidentiality of our customers and users’ information, incorporated and processed by our systems. We make sure to use state of the art information security measures, and constantly update them. We process personal information we receive in connection with our services in accordance with our privacy policy, and limit the processing, retention and sharing of information to the necessary minimum. We protect and process information in a transparent way, and seek to spread this commitment to our core vendors as well. You should feel safe and secure in Layer’s generative AI platform.
